Vashon, WA : Probe into Cory Kennedy crash continues on Tuesday, September 12, 2017
The investigation into a fatal crash that left a 45-year-old man dead and a 26-year-old pro skateboarder facing a vehicular homicide charge continues.
Cory Kennedy appeared in court last Tuesday, but no charges have been filed in connection with the incident that occurred on Vashon, King County Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Dan Donahoe said. According to a statement from the King County Sheriff’s Office, Kennedy was driving in the area near Agren Park where Bank Road becomes Thorsen Road when he failed to navigate the sharp turn and crashed into a tree around 10:15 p.m. His passenger in the front seat, Preston Maigetter, died at the scene. A second passenger was taken to Harborview Medical Center, but was treated and released.
Documents from the prosecutor’s office indicate Kennedy was intoxicated at the time of the crash, and a portable breathalyzer measured his blood alcohol level between 0.10 and 0.11. A warrant for his blood was obtained, and it was drawn at Harborview. Kennedy was arrested after the crash, but released on his own recognizance.
