Princeton,WV : A person killed in single-vehicle accident on April, wednesday 26th 2017
A fatality was reported Wednesday evening after first responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Route 460 near Princeton.
Dispatchers with Mercer County 911 were alerted approximately 9:12 p.m. about a single-vehicle crash with a possible ejection. The Oakvale Volunteer Fire Department and the East River Volunteer Fire Department were sent to the eastbound lanes of Route 460 not far from the intersection of Greasy Ridge Road, according to dispatchers. Traffic was slowed and then halted at times while responders worked at the crash scene.
The driver was declared dead at the scene, according to Trooper First Class J.R. Tupper of the West Virginia State Police Princeton Detachment. Senior Trooper P.M. Hephner was the investigating officer.
Tupper said the crash occurred when the 28-year-old male driver of an eastbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck lost control approximately two miles from the Walmart on Greasy Ridge Road. The driver was ejected from the truck.
The driver’s name was being withheld pending notification of next of kin, Tupper said.
