Nash, TX : Woman, infant son died in Fiery collision on Interstate 30 in northeast Texas on Saturday, June 18, 2016

A fiery wreck in northeast Texas claimed the lives of a woman and her 3-month-old son.

Texarkana, Texas, police have identified them as 29-year-old Tiffany Provence and 3-month-old Daclan Marshall, both of Hooks, Texas.

The collision involving an 18-wheeler, a 2011 Chevrolet HHR and a Chevrolet Tahoe happened about 2:25 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 30 near the Kings Highway (FM 989) overpass in Nash, Texas.

All three vehicles involved in the accident were traveling west.

Police say 29-year-old Shelby Marshall apparently had stopped the Chevrolet HHR on I-30 because traffic had backed up due to an accident ahead at mile marker 211 (FM 2148).

An 18-wheeler being driven by 63-year-old Lorenzo Escobar, of Del Rio, Texas, ran into the rear of Marshall's vehicle. The force of collision pushed the Chevrolet HHR into a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that also had stopped in traffic.

Marshall’s vehicle immediately caught fire. Escobar, the truck driver, was able to help Shelby Marshall out of his vehicle but was unable to get to Provence or Daclan Marshall due to the heat of the fire, police said.

The blaze consumed the Chevrolet HHR and the cab of the tractor-trailer before Texarkana, Texas, firefighters could arrive and extinguish it.

The driver of the Tahoe, 44-year-old Alfredo Molina, of New Boston, Texas, along with his wife, Maria Molina, and 2 children ages 1 and 11 were treated at a local hospital and released.

Shelby Marshall and Escobar also were taken to a local hospital, where they are being treated with for serious injuries of an unknown nature, police said.

Traffic investigators and crime scene technicians were on the scene investigating the accident late into Saturday evening. Meantime, traffic on westbound I-30 was diverted onto St. Michael Drive until the interstate reopened about 9:30 p.m.
