Professional basketball player was killed in a motorcycle crash Saturday night June 28th 2014.

"She was like a daughter to me," said Marquis Hines, her former coach at Vincent when it won Division 1 state championships in the 2006-'07 and 2007-'08 seasons."She just had an awesome life going for herself right now," he said. "I was so proud to have coached her. And then something devastating like this happens. It's a tragedy."

Blue, a sociology major, had played center for Cleveland State University and was one the squad's leading scorers. She served as an assistant coach at Riverside High School during the 2012-'13 season, the year the school won the Division 1 state title.

She took her skills to Europe, where she played for professional teams in France and Serbia, but she had returned to Milwaukee to recover from a knee injury in December, Riverside coach Donald Nelson said.She was planning to return to her professional team at the end of the summer.

"There wasn't a more delightful young lady to have with the girls," Nelson said."She knew her stuff," he said. "There were instances where I would go to Destinee, and she would tell me what she would do in this situation. ...She took it to that next level."

The driver of the vehicle struck by the motorcycle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital, and his passenger was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
