A city man is battling life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Route 24.
According to State Police, a 59-year-old Taunton woman was driving a 1999 Toyota Avalon at approximately 9:45 p.m. Monday when she struck a 67-year-old man that was walking on the highway.
A preliminary investigation by Trooper Ivo Luis determined the pedestrian entered the right travel lane and was struck by the vehicle, which was traveling northbound at the time in the area of mile marker 9. The pedestrian was transported to Rhode Island Hospital via medical helicopter. Police said his last know condition was critical.
The Taunton woman was not injured and remained at the scene.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing. Police said they will not release name unless charges are filed, or there is a death.
