Moorpark, CA : William Koss, 53, died in A head-on collision on Highway 118 near Moorpark on Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Authorities Friday identified the man who was killed in a head-on collision in Moorpark Wednesday morning as William Koss, 53, of Virginia.

Koss died of blunt force injuries, according to the Ventura County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Ventura County Fire Department and California Highway Patrol responded to a collision between a small sedan and a semi truck on Highway 118 west of Grimes Canyon Road just after 7 a.m. Wednesday. Koss was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck, Rod Loera, 54, of Oxnard, was not injured.

Loera said he was traveling westbound on 118 when he saw the sedan slowly drift into this lane. He tried to stop but was unable to avoid the car.
