RIGA TWP, MI : Britton man dies in crash on Wednesday, January 18th 2017

A Britton man died Wednesday morning at the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the Lenawee-Monroe county line.

Hans Christian Brueckner, 42, was driving south on County Line Highway at 7:37 a.m. when he stopped at the U.S. 223 intersection and then pulled into the path of a westbound truck driven by Jeffrey Ryan Hartland, 32, of Ottawa Lake, according to a news release issued by the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department.

Brueckner died at the scene. Neither Hartland nor his passenger, Joshua Michael Badyna, 36, of Lambertville, were injured. The sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by fire and ambulance personnel from Riga and Madison townships. U.S. 223 temporarily was closed while the scene was cleared.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Department, Tecumseh Police Department and the Michigan State Police motor carrier division are assisting in the investigation, which was ongoing Wednesday afternoon.
