Milwaukee, WI : Woman, 83, killed in crash in Bay View on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016

A pedestrian was struck and killed Wednesday morning at Lincoln and Howell avenues.

Friends identified the woman as 83-year-old Crysta Pittman. She lived about a block from the scene of the crash.

She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Milwaukee police.

Police said she was struck by a Dodge Ram truck. The driver, a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene.

Pittman's friends and neighbors described her as a "feisty old lady" who loved animals and enjoyed life even after having surgery months ago.

"She was just starting to feel good and come back. She was very careful of the rules, so I know she would have been careful crossing the street. That's how she was," Pittman's friend, Kerry Anne Neumann, said.
