Seminole County, FL : Motorcyclist, 19, dead in crash near Lake Mary on Tuesday, April 28, 2015

A 19-year-old motorcyclist died in a crash near Lake Mary around 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, a Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman said.

The motorcyclist, Ian Maggard of Lake Mary, crashed while trying to avoid a driver turning left from Lake Way Road to Spinnaker Way, FHP spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said.

Maggard put down his 2008 Kawasaki, Montes said, and crashed into the right side of the turning 2013 Toyota Prius.

Maggard was wearing a helmet, Montes said. He was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The car's driver, 35-year-old Bi Dong of Sanford, was not injured.

Troopers are investigating the crash, Montes said.
