A woman who left the scene of an injury wreck was arrested a short time later for driving under the influence.
On Tuesday evening, a Gage County Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a wreck at Highway 77 and East Elk Road. While going to the scene, the deputy was advised on the vehicles had left the scene.
The Maroon Buick was found more than a mile east on Elm Road with severe damage to the passenger's side and two flat tires. The vehicle also had license plates that belonged to a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier.
The driver, Carol Goracke 54, said she was crossing the highway when she struck a vehicle, a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The driver and passenger of the Cruze sustained minor injuries.
Goracke said she drove away because she got scared. The deputy suspected she was under the influence. The deputy could smell alcohol and she had bloodshot eyes.
Court documents state she was not asked to perform field sobriety maneuvers because she had been involved in a wreck.
