A motorcyclist died in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 Thursday morning in Ocala.
According to Florida Highway Patrol troopers, traffic had slowed down, roughly a mile north of the State Road 40 exit near mile marker 351.
The motorcyclist did not slow down and struck the back of an older model Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by 70-year-old Jose Diaz-Rivera of Ocala in the outside lane.
Upon impact, the motorcyclist, who was wearing his helmet, fell off the bike and the driver of a 2008 Toyota Highland sport utility vehicle, Allan Granda, 68, of Valrico, tried to swerve to avoid hitting the rider. Unable to avoid the collision, the SUV ran over the motorcyclist.
