Central Lubbock, TX : 1 seriously injured in crash near 38th Street and Avenue U on Monday, 7th September, 2020

One person was seriously injured in a single-vehicle crash Monday morning in a Central Lubbock neighborhood.

The crash was reported about 8:45 a.m. near 38th Street and Avenue U, according to Lubbock police. One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after a sedan struck a utility pole and came to rest in a front yard.

It was not immediately clear what led to the crash, as the Major Crash Investigation Unit continued investigating the accident Monday. The crash prompted officials to shut down traffic on Avenue U from 37th Street to 39th Street for much of the morning.
