Monroe, MI : Injured I-75 crash victim dies onTuesday, January 31st 2017

The man who was involved in a car accident on slippery I-75 near E. Elm Ave. Tuesday morning has died.

The Monroe Police Department identified the victim as Willard Heddles, 74, of Tiffin, OH. He apparently died as a result of his injuries.

The single-vehicle accident on the northbound side of the highway occurred around 9:45 a.m. and led to a portion of the highway being closed. Police said the driver lost control of his vehicle, which struck a guardrail.

The victim was rushed to Beaumont Hospital, Trenton, where he later was pronounced dead. Police are requesting any witnesses to the accident to contact Cpl. Donald Brady or Cpl. Paul Marks of the Monroe Police Accident Investigation Team at (734) 243-7500. This crash is still under active investigation.
