Detroit, MI : Man hit, killed while crossing 8 Mile Road on Detroit's east side on early Tuesday morning, September 23, 2014

A 55-year-old man was killed early Tuesday morning when he was hit by a car while crossing a stretch of 8 Mile Road on Detroit's east side. Police said the man was crossing 8 Mile Road east of Gratiot Avenue around 5 a.m. when he was hit by a Dodge pickup truck. The pickup truck stayed at the scene. Police said the oncoming traffic had a green light and it appears as though the driver didn't see the man because there were no street lights working.
