Icy Conditions Cause Problems On Area Roads
Icy conditions caused major problems across the Baltimore region on Thursday morning, with road closures and vehicle accidents jamming morning commutes. A woman was killed in an accident involving a cement truck.
In Anne Arundel County, there were 60 crashes reported between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., according to county police."Motorists should expect major delays from active crashes and residual delays from earlier wrecks on many of the major arteries in the County," wrote Justin Mulcahy, a police spokesman, in a morning email.
Impacted routes include Routes 50, 100, 10, 2, and 3, as well as Interstate 97 and "many secondary roads as well," Mulcahy said.
A woman was killed in a crash about 7:45 a.m. near Waugh Chapel Road and Silver Way in Gambrills involving a cement truck and another vehicle, Mulcahy said. Additional details were not immediately available.
Multiple traffic accidents occurred along Interstate 97 in Anne Arundel, with lanes closing and reopening in both directions through much of the morning as crews worked to respond to an influx of calls.
