MARTINEZ, CA : Boyfriend of woman killed in East Bay crash on Thursday, 13th June 2019
A man accused of driving when he wasn’t sober and fatally crashing into a light pole has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, authorities said Thursday.
Joseph John Martinez, 25, faces only the single charge following the Sunday morning crash that killed his 23-year-old girlfriend, Maria Granados, of Vallejo.
Authorities accuse Martinez of driving a Nissan Sentra while intoxicated and drifting off Lone Tree Way, east of Adams Lane, and hitting a light pole around 5:12 a.m. Martinez, whose last listed residence is San Mateo, was hospitalized and treated for injuries that were deemed minor, authorities said.
