Hillsboro, NC : A Mount Olive woman dies in crash at South Center Street on April 4th, 2016
Hillsboro, North Carolina
A Mount Olive woman is the latest traffic fatality here as result of her car striking another, and then slamming through a fence and into a concrete wall at South Center Street and County Road, on the afternoon of April 4. The vehicle exploded on impact with the concrete wall, investigators said.
Mount Olive Police identified the victim as 59-year-old Antonia Jean Louis of 616 South Center Street.
Investigating officer Jason Holliday said another vehicle traveling on Southeast Center Street, operated by 36-year-old Ronald Marckenzy Oriol of 1029 S. Center Street, crossed over the railroad tracks at Hillsboro Street and collided with the victim’s automobile, causing minor damage. Officer Holliday said Ms. Louis then continued on down Center Street toward County Road and continued to gain speed.
He said she failed to stop for a stop sign at that intersection, hit a “pothole” left of the road, and went airborne, landing 71 feet from where she left the road. The car then continued another 41 feet, smashing through a chain-link fence.
He said the car then continued another 210 feet before colliding with a concrete wall, pushing it back slightly more than a foot.
The officer said the car exploded on that impact and rolled another 38 feet before stopping.
“The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and was clearly not wearing a seat belt,” said Officer Holliday in a filed report.
The fence and concrete wall were at the Southern States Distribution Warehouse site.
