Gadsden, AZ : Five people injured when car crashes into haystack near Gadsden early Friday morning, April 22, 2016

Five people were injured when the car they were traveling in crashed into a haystack near Gadsden early Friday morning.

According to the Somerton/Cocopah Fire Department, the collision happened at approximately 3:41 a.m. on County 18th and Avenue I.

Upon arrival on scene, firefighters found a Nissan Altima with heavy front end damage and five injured occupants, the most serious being a 19-year-old woman who possibly had a broken hip.
There were also two other 19-year-old girls in the car and they both complained of pain in their legs and chest. The other two people who were 21 and 20 years old, both of whom complained of back pain.
All five patients were placed in cervical spine immobilization to prevent spinal injuries and transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center by ambulance.

One patient was transported by Somerton/Cocopah Ambulance, one by San Luis Fire Ambulance and three by Rural/Metro ambulance.

A witness who stopped at the scene after the incident to render aid told firefighters the group was coming back from a night club in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and it is unknown at this time if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
