NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV : North Las Vegas police detective fatally injured in crash on Friday, January 6th 2017

he North Las Vegas Police Department says a detective has died after being injured in a three-vehicle car crash while on duty.

The name of the detective who died at a hospital early Saturday morning about 12 hours after the crash Friday afternoon was not immediately released.

According to the department, the detective was injured in a collision involving a car being driven the wrong way. A third car was also struck.

Police said the woman driving the wrong-way car was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries and that circumstances of the crash were unclear.

A police spokesman said a person in the third vehicle suffered minor injuries.
