Los Angeles, CA : Van Nuys woman killed in Sun Valley crash on 5 Freeway on Sunday, August 28, 2016

A 30-year-old woman was killed Sunday when she allowed her car to drift across some traffic lanes of the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley and strike the center divider.

The crash on the northbound freeway at Penrose Street occurred a little after 3 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorist, a 30-year-old resident of Van Nuys, was taken to Pacifica Hospital of the Valley, where she later died from her injuries.

The motorist was the lone occupant inside a blue 2008 Honda Civic.

An investigation was still pending as to whether alcohol played a factor in the crash, the CHP reported.
