Columbus, OH : 1 killed, 5 injured in crash on I-270 in southeast Columbus on Monday, 3rd June 2019
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday on Interstate 270 in southeast Columbus.
According to the sheriff’s office, a Kenworth dump truck was traveling westbound on I-270 around 2:30 p.m. when the driver side front tire blew apart.
This caused the vehicle to lose control, cross the grass median through the cable barrier and into the eastbound lanes.The sheriff’s office said the truck hit a Ford E350, Toyota Camry and an International box truck that rolled off the south side of the road.
The driver of the box truck was pronounced dead at Grant Medical Center. The driver's name is being withheld until his family has been notified.
The driver of the dump truck was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
The driver and three passengers in the Camry were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Ford was uninjured.
The sheriff’s office said there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
