Sarasota,FL : Cape Coral motorist caused I-75 crash that injured driver in Sarasota County on December, Sunday 17th 2017

Four Cape Coral residents escaped injury when their driver clipped another motorist on Interstate 75 early Sunday, Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Troopers said Stacey Perrone, 47, was driving a 2015 Kia Optima south on I-75 about a mile south of Laurel Road near mile marker 194 in Sarasota County, about 1:20 a.m. Troopers said Perrone was driving behind a 2006 Ford Explorer driven by Kendy Martin, 30, of Sarasota.

The police report indicates Perrone didn't realize Martin was traveling slower, and the Optima struck the Explorer from behind, spinning it. The Explorer drove off the highway and overturned.

Martin was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital.

Perrone's passengers included Kloe Perrone, 16, Paige Perrone, 15, and Jared Laez, 15.

Perrone was cited for careless driving, the report indicates.
