A Washington state man was killed and four people were injured in a four-vehicle crash in which the victim's pickup truck was rear-ended on Interstate 176 during the Monday evening rush, officials said.
The accident and subsequent investigation by Cumru Township police and the Berks County district attorney's crash investigation unit closed both directions of the highway for about eight hours between the Route 724 and Green Hills interchanges.
Douglas Looney, 59, of Newport, Wash., was pronounced dead at the scene by Berks County Deputy Coroner Joel Bonilla. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday evening.
