Las Vegas, NV : One dead, six injured in a fatal rollover accident on eastbound Summerlin Parkway near Buffalo Drive Sunday morning, November 2, 2014
One man was thrown from the vehicle and was confirmed dead at the scene, according to the highway patrol. Steven Alexander Salas-Limon, 19, of Las Vegas, was identified Sunday afternoon by the Clark County coroner’s office.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a gold Chevrolet SUV was speeding on eastbound Summerlin Parkway when it crashed into a white Chevrolet SUV. The driver of the gold SUV lost control and the vehicle overturned in the rocky shoulder, Webster said.
Officers believe there were eight occupants in the gold SUV at the time of the crash, Webster said.
Five occupants of the gold SUV were transported to University Medical Center, one of whom was in critical condition, Webster said. Two occupants remained on-scene with minor injuries.
Salas-Limon was believed to be an occupant, not the driver of the gold SUV, Webster said. All of the occupants of the gold SUV were in their late teens and early 20s.
Webster said officers suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The driver of the white SUV, the vehicle’s only occupant, was not injured.
Eastbound Summerlin Parkway re-opened to traffic about 10:30 a.m., Webster said.
