Sacramento, CA : 1 killed in freeway crash in Chula Vista on Monday, 1st January 2018

A person was killed Monday morning when the car the person was in became disabled on Interstate 5 in Chula Vista and other vehicles crashed into it, authorities said.

The crash was reported at 5:39 a.m. on the northbound I-5 at the H Street onramp, the California Highway Patrol said.

Witnesses told the CHP the car was blocking the far left lane and center divider and that a party was still inside when vehicles crashed into it.

The crash victim died at the scene, the CHP said.
