Iowa City, IA : Boy dies in bicycle accident in Davenport on Friday September 2 2016

A boy riding his bicycle down a hill in Fairmount Cemetery in Davenport was killed after he lost control and hit a tree, officials said.

Davenport police were called to 3902 Rockingham Road Friday night at 6:44 in reference to an accident involving a 10-year-old boy. A preliminary investigation shows the victim was riding his bicycle down a hill in the cemetery when he lost control and struck a tree. The boy died as a result of his injuries.

The name is being withheld pending notification of family.
