MARTINSVILLE, VA : Two cars damaged in Martinsville wreck on Thursday, September 7, 2017

Both vehicles were damaged, but no one was hurt Thursday after a wreck at the intersection of Starling Avenue and Church Street.

Martinsville City Police Officer C. Bennett and Sergeant B. Peters were called out to the scene at 2:08 p.m., at the three-way intersection near the local YMCA.

While the drivers’ names were not released by officers on the scene, Peters confirmed that two people were involved in the two-vehicle crash and that both walked away unharmed.

Speed did not appear to be a factor in the wreck, which involved a red Hyundai Elantra and a gold-colored Ashley’s U.S. Lock and Security van.

“The passenger front tire is separated from the red car,” Peters said, alluding to the Elantra.

The Elantra also sustained damage to the car’s front end.

The sergeant also noted a flat rear passenger tire on the Ashley’s company van.

Due to the flat tires, both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, Peters said.

The sergeant noted that an independent witness who saw the accident occur cooperated with police to relay the scene as it took place. However, the accident was still under investigation as of Thursday night.

“The main thing is, everybody’s okay,” Peters said.
