Oneonta, NY : Oneonta bicyclist hurt in collision with truck on Monday,16th April 2018
A man riding a bicycle was hit by a truck and injured at the corner of West and Cherry streets in Oneonta at about 5 p.m. Monday.
The bicyclist was going downhill on West Street, which a motorist crossed from Cherry Street going uphill, city police said. Motorist David C. Defalco, 49, of Oneonta, told police he didn't see the bicyclist, who tried to avoid Defalco's truck but hit the rear passenger side of the vehicle.
The bicyclist had bleeding on his head but no reported life-threatening injuries, said police who withheld his name pending a report that he was OK. City ambulance crews took the bicyclist to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, and police said he was still being treated late Monday night.
The bicyclist apparently wasn't wearing a helmet, said police who ticketed Defalco for failure to yield the right of way.
