Council Bluffs, IA : Omaha man died at a Missouri Valley hospital after crash on Tuesday, August 29, 2017
An Omaha man died at a Missouri Valley hospital after crashing east of Logan shortly before 5 a.m. Tuesday, according to authorities.
The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that John M. Oien, 60, was pronounced dead at CHI Health Missouri Valley after being transported there by Logan Rescue following a crash at the intersection of Overton Avenue and Highway 30.
Sheriff Patrick Sears said in the release that the Sheriff’s Office and Logan Rescue personnel arrived following a 4:54 a.m. call to 911 for a personal injury accident. They found one person in a vehicle, who was extracted and taken to the hospital.
Oien was traveling northbound on Overton Avenue approaching the Highway 30 intersection when the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, went through the intersection and struck a utility pole in the north ditch of the highway, according to the release.
Authorities have ordered an autopsy. The crash remained under investigation as of Wednesday morning.
