Belleville,IL : Six hospitalized after two-vehicle crash in Belleville on August, Saturday 26th 2017

Six people, including two children, were hospitalized Saturday night after a two-vehicle crash under a bridge on North Belt West.

Five people in a Denali SUV were taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance, and one woman in a Durango was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital via ARCH helicopter with serious injuries, Northwest Fire Chief Chester Borkowski Jr. said.

The woman in the Durango was trapped after the accident, which occurred in the 6300 block of North Belt West. Northwest firefighters were able to free her from the car within three to five minutes of arriving at 10:32 p.m.

Two children, 10 and 11, and three adults in the SUV were hospitalized with severe trauma including head, neck or facial injuries.
