Omaha, NE : 2 critically injured in crash near 156th, Stonybrook on Wednesday night, June 15, 2016
Medics took two people to the hospital with critical injuries after a Wednesday night crash.
Authorities arrived at the scene near 156th Street and Stoneybrook Boulevard around midnight.
Police said Stephen P. Yablinsky, 27, was speeding in a white truck when he rear-ended a car.
Police said Yablinsky was traveling over the posted 45 mph speed limit and that the car he hit, with driver Gregory Neville, 59, inside, then veered off the road and hit two trees.
Yablinsky kept going until he hit a pole and traffic control box for the traffic signals at the 156th Street and Stonybrook Boulevard intersection, police said.
Both drivers were taken to Nebraska Medicine in serious condition.
Yablinsky faces a few charges. Police believe alcohol and speed are factors.
Traffic signals are not functioning at the intersection and both Public Works and OPPD are working to fix the problem, along with setting up temporary stop signs.
