Geneva, NY : Connecticut man in guarded condition after bicycle collides with car on County Road 6 in Geneva on Sunday, September 28, 2014
An accident involving a car and bicycle in Geneva on Sunday has left a Connecticut man in guarded condition at Strong Memorial Hospital as of 10 a.m. Monday.
According to Ontario County sheriff's deputies, cyclist James Roy Gainfort, 67, of New Fairfield, was traveling north on County Road 6 when he made a left turn into the path of a 2004 Honda operated by 35-year-old Louis Francis Bohrer Jr., 355 W. High St., Geneva, who was also driving north.
Gainfort, who deputies said was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was treated at the scene by members of the Penn Yan Area Volunteer Ambulance Corps as well as Finger Lakes Ambulance. He was then taken to Strong Memorial Hospital by Life Net helicopter for treatment of head, neck and internal injuries, deputies added.
Nancy Jo Fischer, also of the West High Street address, and a front seat passenger in the Bohrer vehicle, complained of neck pain and was transported to Genevea General Hospital by Finger Lakes Ambulance.
No citations have been issued as the investigation is ongoing.
