CORAM, NY : Man gets prison term for crash that killed motorcyclist on Thursday, 29th September 2016
Prosecutors say a Long Island man has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison after his conviction on charges including vehicular manslaughter and driving while high on marijuana in a fatal crash last fall.
Prosecutors say 22-year-old Sabelo Ndala of Port Jefferson Station also was convicted of aggravated unlicensed driving. He was sentenced on Wednesday.
Authorities say Ndala had been on probation for a previous DWI conviction when he slammed into a motorcyclist in Coram (KOHR’-um) in November while trying to turn.
Thomas Heissenbuttel, of South Setauket (seh-TAW’-kiht), was taken to a hospital and later died.
