A Zephyrhills man who was a passenger in a car was killed Saturday night in a crash on U.S. 301 in Dade City.
James Diggins, 54, was driving his 2004 Oldsmobile Alero with passenger Leonard Pasco, 48, when the vehicle collided with a 1995 Lincoln Town Car south of the intersection of U.S. 301 and Jordan Road, according to the
Florida Highway Patrol.
The driver of the second vehicle, John Bryant, 52, of Dade City, and his four passengers suffered minor injuries in the crash, but Diggins, of Lutz, was taken to Lakeland Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. Pasco, of
Zephyrhills, was pronounced dead at Lakeland Regional.
The FHP report said Bryant and his passengers were all wearing their seat belts and had not consumed any alcohol. It is still unknown if Diggins and Pasco were wearing their seat belts, or if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash and charges are pending.
