WILTON, ME : Wilton man recovering from snowmobile crash on April, Wednesday 12th 2017
A local man was reported in good condition Wednesday at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston after being thrown from a snowmobile Sunday.James Harris, 54, received serious injuries and was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington and transported to CMMC, according to a spokesman for the Maine Warden Service.
Harris was teaching an 11-year-old girl how to drive his snowmobile at about 10:50 a.m. Sunday in a field off Depot Street. He was seated behind the girl as they drove across a large field, the spokesman said.
While making a right turn, he lost control of the snowmobile, it accelerated, drove through a wire fence, crossed Depot Street and launched off a snowbank on the other side of the road. It stopped in a paved driveway, the spokesman said.
Harris and the girl were thrown from the snowmobile. The girl was wearing a helmet and was not seriously injured. She was not taken to the hospital.
Harris was not wearing a helmet.
A CMMC spokesman said Harris was in good condition Wednesday.
Game Warden Kyle Hladik responded to the accident, along with Wilton Police officer Brian Lynch and NorthStar Emergency Services.
