Fort Collins, CO : Driver dies after 2-car collision at College Avenue, Trilby Road in Fort Collins on Wednesday, 30th January 2019

An 86-year-old driver died Wednesday afternoon following a two-car collision on College Avenue in south Fort Collins

The woman, whose name has not been released, was attempting to make a left turn from southbound College onto eastbound Trilby Road, and drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle, according to a press release from Fort Collins Police Services.

The woman's 1993 Pontiac sedan crossed in front of a 1988 Ford truck driven by Antonio Barrientos III, 37, who was traveling northbound on College Avenue, the release says.

Barrientos sustained minor injuries. The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies, where she was pronounced dead.

The Larimer County Coroner will release the woman's identity at a later time, the release says. Speed, drugs or alcohol are not believed to be factors in the collision.
