Clinton,MS : Pedestrian killed on I-20 in Clinton; Officer responding to scene injured on July, Sunday 16th 2017

An officer who was responding the scene of a deadly crash in Clinton was injured, officials said.

Police went to I-20 East and Springridge Road Sunday night to respond to crash. A pedestrian was hit and died.

Mark Jones with the City of Clinton said an officer at the scene was standing outside of his patrol car when a vehicle rear ended the car; the officer was injured.

Jones said the officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for bumps and bruises. He has been released.

Mississippi has a law that requires drivers to move over for law enforcement and emergency vehicles; Jones said the driver was cited for not moving over.

The identifty of the pedestrian killed has not been released at this time.
