Martinsville, VA : One person killed in accident on Saturday September 3 2016

One person is dead after a hit and run incident in Henry County and state police are asking for help to solve the crime.

At 11:38 p.m. Saturday night, a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle was heading north on Route 220 at the Route 58 bypass when it was hit by an unknown vehicle. State troopers believe it was a sedan, white in color. The driver of the motorcycle was thrown into the road and then was hit by a 2007 Mazda CX-7 that was also heading north on Route 220. The motorcycle’s driver, 58-year-old Martinsville resident Jeffery Curtis Hairston, died at the scene.

Trooper J.L. Lovell is in charge of the investigation and asks residents to share any information they might have about that white sedan. It will be missing part of the left front bumper on the driver’s side.

The investigation remains ongoing with the assistance of the Virginia State Police Salem Division Crash Reconstruction Team and Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
