Eaton, OH : Miami Co. woman dies after crashing SUV in Preble County on Sunday afternoon, May 29, 2016

A 63-year-old Miami County woman was killed this afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Preble County.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 3100 block of U.S. West between Ohio 726 and Pence Shewman Road, according to the Preble County Sheriff’s Office. The woman, whose name was not released, was the only occupant in a 2005 Honda sport-utility vehicle.

Preliminary investigation shows the woman was headed east on U.S. 40 when she went off the right side of the highway, rode the ditch line and then struck a pole and a drainage pipe in a small creek. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the Preble County Coroner’s Office. Deputies said her name has not been released pending notification of her family, and that an autopsy will be performed by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation, but alcohol is not believed to be a factor, according to the sheriff’s office.

North Central EMS, the Eldorado Fire Department and West Manchester Fire Department also responded to the scene.
