New york, NY : Man in critical condition after scooter crashes into livery car early Sunday, December 13, 2015

A 29-year-old man is clinging to life after he crashed his scooter into a livery car early Sunday on the Upper East Side, cops and witnesses said.

The man was riding south on Fifth Ave., near E. 85th St., around 3:15 a.m. when he hit the Nissan Rogue, witnesses and cops said.

The victim, who was wearing a helmet, flew off his scooter and into a tree.

The Rogue crashed into the driver and then a wall, suffering front-end damage.

Saad Alibhatti was in his Toyota Camry when he saw the crash.

“He tried to avoid him (the scooter),” said the 19-year-old, who turned around when he saw the accident. “They (EMS) took off his helmet and he was bleeding from his mouth and head. He was moving a bit.”

The victim was rushed to New York Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he is in critical condition. There were three female passengers in the Rogue, Alibhatti said.

“One girl looked traumatic,” Alibhatti said. “She was taken in the ambulance.”

The driver of the Rogue wasn’t hurt, cops said. The 29-year-old scooter driver may have run the red light, a police source said.

Police were still investigating Sunday afternoon.
