Charlotte, N.C : Two CMPD officers injured in wreck on I-485 in north Charlotte on Tuesday morning, February 24, 2015

Two Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officers were taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after being involved in a collision on Interstate 485 in north Charlotte, according to officials.

Police said that the officers had pulled over on the outer loop near Beatties Ford Road around 9 a.m. to help another motorist when a car spun out, bounced off a tractor trailer and then crashed into the officers -- who were still in their patrol car -- and the car they were helping.

The officer's car was knocked up an embankment.
CMPD identified the officers involved as Rhonda Anderson and John Locklear with the North Division. The officers sustained minor injuries.

Paramedics told that both officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

A third person was also hurt in the crash but paramedics said that they would be OK.

There are several CMPD officers, MEDIC and firefighters on the scene.
