Brighton,TN : Woman charged with running over crossing guard outside Brighton High School on August, Tuesday 29th 2017

A crossing guard was hit outside Brighton High School on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened just before school.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said the driver was on her phone and dropped it before hitting the crossing guard.

Stephanie Gruthoff, 26, is charged with vehicular assault for hitting the crossing guard. Officials said she stayed on the scene.

The crossing guard was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
