Marengo, IL : Garden Prairie man killed in two-vehicle crash on River Road in unincorporated Marengo on Thursday, 17th September, 2020
An 83-year-old Garden Prairie man died and a 75-year-old Garden Prairie man suffered serious injuries as a result of a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on River Road in unincorporated Marengo, authorities said.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Marengo Township Fire Rescue District responded about 2:18 p.m. Thursday to River and Thorne roads for a crash involving a 2007 Hummer H3 and a 2000 Dodge Dakota, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
Based on a preliminary investigation, the Hummer was driving north on Thorne Road, turning west onto River Road when crash occurred, according to the release.
The Hummer, driven by a 22-year-old Capron man, failed to yield to the Dodge, which was driving east on River Road, according the release. Investigators don't know why the Capron man pulled out in front of the Dodge.
The collision caused the Dodge, driven by the 75-year-old Garden Prairie man, to overturn into the north ditch, according to the release.
