North Adams , MA : One man seriously injured in Rollover Crash after struck a large rock and rolled over on Friday afternoon ,April 3rd 2015

A city man was seriously injured on Friday after his vehicle struck a boulder and rolled over, according to North Adams Police.

The man, whom police declined to identify, was heading north on Daniels Road in a 2009 Jeep about 12:15 p.m. when the vehicle careened off the road, struck a large rock and rolled over, police said. When first responders arrived, the Jeep was resting upside down beside the road.

It appears the driver was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected, but the accident is still under investigation, according to North Adams Police Director Michael Cozzaglio. Early indications are that speed played a factor, Cozzaglio said.

The victim was taken to Berkshire Medical Center's Northern Berkshire Campus, where he was picked up by a life flight helicopter and transported to Albany Medical Center in New York. His condition was not immediately available

There were no passengers in the vehicle.

North Adams police, fire, and ambulance crews responded to the scene.
