Burgaw, NC : Woman killed in I-40 wreck near Burgaw on Sunday afternoon, August 21, 2016

A woman died Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle car accident on Interstate 40 near Burgaw.

Victoria Leon-Borja, 61, of Whaley Sand Hole Lane in Wallace was killed when a car in which she was a passenger overturned, according to the NC State Highway Patrol. About 2:30 p.m., the car was heading west on I-40 near the 401-mile marker when the left rear tire blew out. The car swerved off the road and flipped over.

The driver of the vehicle was not seriously injured in the crash, according to the highway patrol.
