An 83-year-old man has died after being hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash in south Sacramento Wednesday, California Highway Patrol said.

The incident happened around 8:55 p.m. at 7650 Excelsior Road, officials said.

The victim was walking on the road when he was hit, CHP said. It is reported the victim lives in the area on Excelsior Road off Gerber Road and he was possibly struck right in front of his own residence.

No suspect or car description has been released.
