Memphis, TN : Woman killed, child injured in a single-car crash in Whitehaven on Tuesday afternoon, September 13, 2016

A woman was killed and a child critically injured in a single-car crash in Whitehaven Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The incident happened around 12:24 p.m. at Shelby Drive and Gill. The female passenger was pronounced dead on the scene while the child was taken to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in critical condition. The man driving the car was taken to the Regional Medical Center in noncritical condition.

Police said the driver lost control as he was heading east on Shelby Drive.
