Jamestown, ND : A three-vehicle accident north of Jamestown on Sunday, August 6, 2017
A three-vehicle accident north of Jamestown Sunday resulted in one person being airlifted to a Fargo hospital, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred at about 2:15 p.m. on U.S. Highway 281, 3 miles north of Jamestown.
A 2002 Ford F-250, driven by Ernest Castillo, 38, Gackle, was traveling northbound on Highway 281 when Castillo attempted to turn west toward Pipestem Reservoir. The patrol said Castillo failed to yield to southbound traffic and was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Colorado driven by Clay Kamoni, 55, Jamestown. After the impact between the two pickups, Kamoni’s pickup struck a 2011 Kenworth driven by Curt Nelson, 54, Warren, Minn.
The Jamestown Fire Department’s rescue squad extricated Kamoni from the vehicle. He was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center and then airlifted to a Fargo hospital.
Castillo and his passenger, Arin Kendall, 35, Jamestown, were wearing seat belts as was Nelson.
Kamoni was not wearing a seat belt.
The accident is under investigation by the patrol.
