A bicyclist was hospitalized after he was involved in an accident with a semi truck Thursday night.

The truck driven by Roger D. Camden, 1513 S. Third St., Mattoon, hit the bicyclist on U.S. Route 45 at 8:22 p.m. Thursday, according to a news release from the Coles County Sheriff's Office.

The release identified the bicyclist as Christopher Borders, 36, of 2107 Broadway Ave., Mattoon, and said he was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana after the accident.

The release said the accident took place just south of the Silver Star Skate Center, a skating rink at the north edge of Mattoon.

Carle representatives weren't available for questions on Borders' condition.
