RIVERVIEW, FL : A 79-year-old man was killed and four children were injured in a crash on April, Sunday 30th 2017

A 79-year-old man was killed Sunday afternoon and four children were injured in a crash on Big Bend Road when another vehicle making a turn pulled into his path, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.

Keith L. Thompson of Judy Creek Drive in Riverview was pronounced dead at St. Joseph's Hospital after the 2:56 p.m. accident.

Thompson was driving his 2001 Infiniti G20 westbound on Big Bend Road when a 2006 Chevrolet HHR driven by Robert D. Smith, 46, of Bramfield Drive, Riverview, driving eastbound on the same road, pulled in front of him as Smith tried to make a left turn onto Lincoln Road, deputies said.

Smith's vehicle, carrying a 9-year-old and three 13-year-old girls, overturned. Smith and the children were taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, deputies said.
